In response to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996, our practice has stepped forward to provide the best in service as well as the highest level of privacy possible.
Our HIPAA Compliance plan was adopted in 2004. Education and training of both radiologists and employees for their roles in handling confidential patient information in all areas is provided as each new member joins the InView Medical Imaging team. Annual updates on standards and regulations and/or any revisions are mandatory. The recording, viewing, reporting, and storing or transmitting of imaging exams are done with the highest level of safeguards for maintaining confidentiality.
Employees are further trained to clarify their areas of responsibility and accessibility to PHI (Protected Health Information) and ePHI (electronic Protected Health Information). Education on methods of reporting suspected violations (done by phone, email, in writing or one on one) are provided as well.
A Chief Compliance/HIPAA Safety Officer has been appointed and, along with the Compliance HIPAA Committee, aids in review of policies and procedures as well as any Compliance/Security incidents.
HIPAA privacy regulation policies and procedures, effective April 2005, have been developed and are being integrated into InView Medical Imaging's operations.
